How to Choose LED Pixel Lights for Your Amusement Park Ride in 2026

Buying LED pixel lights for amusement park rides is not like buying standard LED bulbs. The specifications that matter — base type, voltage, program type, IP rating, chip construction — are specific to the amusement industry and require careful matching to your ride and operating environment. This step-by-step buying guide ensures you get it right first time.

Step 1: Identify Your Ride's Socket Type

  ◉ The first and non-negotiable step is identifying the base type of your existing sockets:
  ◉ E10 (10mm screw) — measure with calipers or check the rating on a failed bulb
  ◉ E14 (14mm screw) — the more common modern standard
  ◉ BA15d (bayonet, 15mm) — some European dodgem cars; requires an adapter to use E14 pixel lights
  ◉ GU10 / GU5.3 — unusual in fairground context; verify before ordering

Step 2: Confirm Your Supply Voltage

Measure the voltage at the socket with a multimeter (both AC and DC mode). The three options are:
  ◉ AC24V — transformer-fed, most European rides
  ◉ DC24V — SMPS-fed, modern installations
  ◉ DC12V — SMPS-fed, smaller rides and Asian manufacture
Modern 6th-generation pixel lights support all three voltages from a single product. If ordering older-generation products, confirm voltage compatibility explicitly with your supplier.

  ◉ Program number assignment per section

  ◉ Total wattage (to spec power supplies)

Don't forget to include 10-15% extra stock for spares. Ordering spares at the same time as the initial batch ensures perfect color and program matching. Ordering from a different production batch later risks color inconsistency.

Step 9: Order Samples Before Bulk Commitment
